There may be a time when consoles get too complicated for people to write emulators* for in their spare time. ![]() But with each console generation the complexity of the system and by extension the level of emulation required of it gets more advanced. If you are clever you can write your own NES or Gameboy emulator without to much effort. That's basically the problem with emulation: because everything has to be translated into something your PC can understand, the amount of processing required goes up significantly.Īt the same time consoles are also getting evermore complicated. Now think how fast you would read the same book if it was in another language and you would need to look each word up in a dictionary each time. Assume you can read well and can read a big book in about a day. To put that in another way: lets compare emulation to reading a book.
